Awarded the Medal of Honor during World War II, the first Navy medical corpsman ever to receive it, Bob is a fellow classmate and member of the Willapa Valley High School Class of '45 of Menlo, Pacific County in the state of Washington. He met Mrs Roosevelt and expressed much respect, supporting a long weekend dedicated to her, from Saturday to the Second Monday of each August.
